A few things

I think you should know...

I specialise in lifestyle photography, everything from weddings, newborns, babies, families, those magical days of maternity and everything in between.

What happens after my shoot?

Once you’ve had your shoot and I’ve completed the editing, I’ll invite you to my home studio for your reveal.  I’ll show you all the images from your shoot in large on my PC and discuss with you the various additional packages and products available to you.  If you live further afield and have had a shoot with me, it may not always be possible to do a viewing session together in person, however I will send you the link to your image gallery and discuss options with you over the phone or Skype in the same way.

What if the weather is bad?

There are some things in life that are certain.  The weather is not one of those things. We’ll work to whatever the Lord gives us and create something real, and magical, no matter what.   However, if you’ve booked a lifestyle shoot with me and the weather is too bad to shoot in, I will re-schedule for another date that is convenient for both of us!

What products do you offer?

I love nothing more than presenting clients with prints, albums or image boxes.  I offer beautiful, bespoke fine art albums in a soft linen finish. Have a look here.  If you are looking for a more bespoke package, please get in touch!

Are your packages adjustable?

I feel that in our times, everything needs to be customizable.  Not everything in this world comes in black and white and fits within the lines.  I will quite happily put together something special for you.

What if I’m late for my shoot?

Of course life will always throw in a few curve balls, and I understand that!  I always make sure to be in touch with you on the day and let you know my mobile number to keep me posted should you encounter any delays on your way.

When working with natural light – time and lighting is of great importance and depending on the time of day, this might cut your shoot short.  I always shoot in the ‘golden hour’ which is the hour before sunset which can run fairly late in summer, so there may be an additional supplement should I need to wait for longer than 15 minutes (summer only)*

How much editing/Photoshop do you use?

I retouch every image as naturally as I can.  I use a combination of Lightroom and Photoshop to achieve this.  You can rest assured that any blemishes will be edited out. Please note that I am unable to add dinosaurs to images, at this stage 😉

What should we wear?

I’ll ask you a few questions about yourselves as a couple/family, about any favourite locations or sentimental spots and when I get to know a little more, I will help put together an inspiration board to give you a few ideas.  Most importantly, I want ‘you’ in front my camera so you need to feel beautiful, comfortable and relaxed.

How do I know if you are the right photographer for me?

I am a strong believer that there needs to be a good fit between client and photographer, especially during a wedding.  I offer a complimentary engagement session with all my 8+ hour wedding packages as a chance to get to know eachother and for you to understand my shooting style and technique so that you are totally comfortable on the day.  Here’s what some of my amazing clients have said about me.

Do you travel to shoot weddings?

Absolutely.   I have photographed two international weddings and am more than happy to travel both locally and abroad.  Depending on the size of the wedding, a second shooter may or may not be required. If one is required then there would be additional travel expenses.  A custom quotation would be provided to you upon enquiry and a discount offered for exceptional destinations.

If you are getting married in Fiji, Bora Bora or any other remote island destination I will shoot your wedding for free – you just cover the travel and accommodation expenses!

Can I make a provisional booking?

In order to fully secure a date, I take a 50% deposit to secure.  If you would like me to ‘hold’ a specific date, I am happy to do so until another request/booking for that same date comes in.  In this case, I would notify you immediately allowing you to make a decision.

Do you have a studio?

Although one day I dream of having a studio for my newborn photography, I am not a studio photographer and thrive in beautiful outdoor locations one hour from sunset when the sun is low in the sky and drapes soft, golden light upon the earth.  I bring my own gear when shooting a posed newborn session in a clients home.

What do you charge for a wedding?

You can find my wedding packages over here, but please get in touch if you’d like to discuss a more tailored package for your wedding day!

What equipment do you use?

Canon 5D Mark ii

Canon 5D Mark iii

Canon L Series 24-70mm 2.8

Canon 50mm 1.4

Canon 85mm 1.8

Canon EX580 ii

What parts of the wedding do you cover?

In order to tell the story of your day properly I shoot from the moment the bride and groom begin getting ready and end a few hours after the real ‘characters’ emerge on the dance floor leaving just enough time for you both to let your hair down too.

Do you offer an engagement shoot?

I offer a complimentary e-shoot with every 8+ wedding package.  I feel that this is a crucial part of getting to know each other so that both parties feel more at ease on the day.

‘’What if I’m really camera shy?’’

I’ll let you in on a little secret … so am I and it’s for this very reason that I’ll be able to make you feel a little more at ease in front of the camera.  I try to avoid contrived, forced moments and aim to shoot more ‘as it unfolds’. If you focus on being in the moment with your partner you’ll actually end up enjoying it, I promise!

When will I get to see my wedding photos?

The editing process is a very important part of the story that I’ll be telling and I pay careful attention to every photo.  I like to tell clients between 6 and 8 weeks but if I can surprise you sooner, you can guarantee that I will. For lifestyle and newborn shoots, your photos will be ready within 2 – 4 weeks.

Do you work with a second shooter?

I try not to work with a second shooter, unless the wedding is too large for me to cover on my own,  or time constraints or travel distances do not allow for me to be in all the places I need to be. I do include a second shooter with my high-end package.  This will be determined upon our initial meet where we will discuss how you anticipate your day to unfold.

What is your shoot ‘style’?

I would like to think that my style is somewhere between Fine Art and Documentary style.  I do my utmost to capture real, raw moments and the moments ‘in-between’ – ones that you probably missed amidst all the hussle and bussle of the day.  My style is aetherial, light with emphasis on details and emotion.

How will I receive the images?

Once the images are ready you will receive an online gallery on low-res. (Facebook, Email, PC friendly) sized photos which you will be able to download and/or share with family and friends and on social media platforms via the platform.

If you’ve decided on an album, this will be delivered to you together with a custom USB of all the high-res. versions of the images.  Nothing brings me greater joy than to present something tangible that you will be able to cherish forever.

How do you structure the group/formal shots

I require a list of all the combinations of groups (with names next to each shot) so that I am able to work with the bridal party, usually the best man to call each shot on your list.  Please try to keep the list as short as possible as this takes up a large amount of time to co-ordinate, especially with larger weddings. It almost always NEVER goes to plan and there are always guests that do not want to be included and are therefore slightly more difficult during these larger group shots.   Whilst it is important to capture you with each and every person at the wedding, it does detract from more natural, candid moments and consume time from the ‘couple shoot’.
